Here's How Your Travel Agent Actually Gets Paid.

You Should Probably Know This Before You Call One.

Travel agents work on commission. The cruise line pays them. The resort pays them. The tour operator pays them. You pay nothing — which sounds fantastic until you realize what that actually means: your agent's incentive is to book you on whatever pays them the most, not whatever's best for you.

Most agents join a broker network — also called a consortium — because they genuinely have no other option. Certification requirements, insurance, booking perks, supplier contracts, and access to rates that few independent agents could negotiate alone all come bundled with membership. Without them, you're either operating illegally or flying blind.

The catch: those same networks actively push high-commission products. They steer toward the brands that cut the best deals with the brokers. Then the broker takes their cut — typically 30% of whatever commission was earned — before your agent ever sees a dollar. Your agent may be a perfectly lovely person. They are also working inside a system that rewards them for steering you toward margin, not memories.

Your cruise booking $2,000
Gross commission — 10%, if they're lucky (most are lower) $200
Broker takes their 30% off the top −$60
What the agent actually keeps — before income tax ~$140
Their incentive to answer at 2 a.m. when your port is cancelled You do the math.
For under $200, you are not getting someone who has actually been to the place they're recommending. You are not getting someone on call when everything falls apart in a foreign country. You are getting a very nice person who booked your trip on the same website you could have used yourself — and quietly took a commission for the trouble.

This Is Probably Not for You

We mean that with zero disrespect. It's just that a lot of people are a genuinely terrible fit for the way we work — and we'd rather say it plainly than waste anyone's time, including ours.

We Are Not Influencers

(And We Despise the Species)

We recently stepped off a boat trip that nearly broke our spirit. Half the passengers weren't even looking at the scenery — they were walking around like synchronized zombies, posing for fake shots, adjusting their ring lights, and recording multi-angle videos of themselves looking "spontaneous." It was exhausting to witness.

Let us make one thing aggressively clear: we are never going to utilize social media to "influence" you. We don't want to influence anyone. If you need a filtered 22-year-old in a flowing maxi dress to tell you where to drink a latte, you are in the wrong corner of the internet. We travel for the actual, raw, unscripted experience — not for the digital validation of strangers. You will never see us staging a fake laugh while holding an artisanal gelato we never ate. We are there to live it, laugh at our own mistakes, and move on.

We have been offered FAM trips and paid partnerships. We decline them — because the moment you accept a free room in exchange for content, you are no longer a traveler. You are an unpaid marketing department with good lighting. Every "honest review" that followed a complimentary stay is, at best, a conflict of interest. At worst, it is just an ad with prettier fonts.

We are braggers. Not bloggers.

We Earn Commissions Too.

We hold every credential the big networks bundle with membership — earned without trading our product preferences to get them. We disclose every commission, immediately, without being asked. We have sat at a plastic table next to a fish market in Lima and eaten the best meal of our lives because a local told us to — not because someone kicked back a fee. We do this because we are obsessed. Not because the math works out.

Which brings us to the part you probably figured out already: you almost certainly cannot afford us. Not because of the money. Because, remember that cruise booking? Before choosing that cabin, I already:

Just. For. The. Room.

The List Is Closed.

(Mostly.)

We plan trips for ourselves and a very small group of people we actually know and trust. We don't recruit, we don't advertise, and growing the client list is genuinely not something we lie awake thinking about. So, to recap: use our site, steal our research, use the links, plan your own epic trips, and leave us out of your booking confirmation emails. But someone sent you here — which means someone vouched for you. That's not nothing. Fill out the form below, be honest, and we'll take a look.

Still here?
Request an Invite — It Better Be Fucking Good

We read every single one of these ourselves — no assistant, no inbox filter. If it feels like a fit, we'll be in touch. If it doesn't, we probably won't respond. That sounds harsher than it is. We just don't do pity emails.

This matters. A lot.

This matters even more.

Skip the pleasantries. Be honest. That's what we're looking for.

We'll review and reach out if it's a fit.
